I was only 17 when I was introduced to Amway by my classmate, who became my sponsor. He said that I only need to spend a few years to grow my Amway business to enjoy its rewards. I took his sharing with a grain of salt. After all, my father and my grandfather spent their lifetime building their business.
I didn’t give it serious thought until my life turned upside down. My father became debt-ridden after winding up his business, we had to vacate our home and my mother became the sole breadwinner. The employer provided her, my 2 brothers and me with shelter. However, the small wooden cabin we stayed in was very crowded as we had to share it with other migrant workers.
Our situation became dire when my mother was diagnosed with cancer and had to fly to Kuching for treatment. That’s when my elder brother and I decided to help our mother realise her dreams of owning a house and opting for early retirement.
By the time I was 21, I had worked numerous jobs. A mishap at the car workshop resulted in me staying home to recuperate without any income. At that time, I was penniless with hardly any friends. I didn’t have the looks or the inner qualities to be successful. But I soon realised that we can find thousands of excuses to fail, but we only need one good reason to succeed!
I’m proud to say that I started my Amway business on public buses. I shared about Amway and its products with every passenger. One day, I tried to sell Glister products to an uncle who sat next to me. He snapped and called me ‘gila’ (crazy)! I got turned down on many occasions, but I carried on.
It took me a year to realise my mom’s dreams. Since then, I have achieved freedom of time and travelled to many different countries with Amway. I have achieved many of my dreams too. Hence, it’s essential to put your effort in the right direction and choose the right career.

I truly believe that, “With great power comes great responsibility.” In Amway, the higher your pin level, the more empowered you are to help more people. Our lifelong mission is to assist more people who intend to change their lives, turning them from nobody to somebody, just like me!
